Apple iPod (4th generation) (2004)
The Click Wheel iPod, borrowing the control layout of the iPod mini and dropping the separate buttons.
The 4th generation iPod adopted the integrated Click Wheel from the iPod mini, putting the buttons under the wheel. It could sync over either FireWire or USB, and a USB-based charging option broadened PC compatibility. It became the template for iPods through the 5th generation. A U2 Special Edition with black body and red wheel followed in October 2004.
