Doom 3 (2004)
id Software.
Doom 3 introduced id Tech 4 with real-time unified lighting and shadows. Tim Willits led design with Carmack on programming. Trent Reznor planned the soundtrack but left over scheduling; Chris Vrenna and Clint Walsh finished it. It sold over 3.5 million copies by 2007, id's most successful project at the time, and holds 87/100 on Metacritic. The PC version needed a Pentium 4-class machine and a DirectX 9 GPU.
