Neo Geo CD (1994)
SNK's lower-cost CD version of the Neo Geo AES, with cheap discs but long load times.
Released September 9, 1994 at 49,800 yen, then Europe (December 1994) and North America (January 1996, $399). Games cost $49-79 versus up to $300 for AES cartridges, but 30-60 second loads hurt. A double-speed CDZ followed in Japan on December 29, 1995. 97 games released and 570,000 units sold by 1997.
