Doom II: Hell on Earth (1994)

Doom II launched October 10, 1994 and was the first Doom released initially in stores rather than as shareware; 600,000 units shipped and sold out within a month. It became the highest-selling US software product of 1994 and eventually passed 1.8 million copies and $74 million in US revenue. Sandy Petersen designed most levels with American McGee contributing, while Carmack and Romero handled programming and Robert Prince composed the music. It added the Super Shotgun and Megasphere across 32 levels. Metacritic lists 83/100 for PC, and it won the 1994 Origins Award.
