Microsoft buys 86-DOS from Seattle Computer Products (1981)
Microsoft had licensed 86-DOS for $25,000 in December 1980, then bought all rights for $50,000 on July 27, 1981 and turned it into PC-DOS and MS-DOS, which it could now license to other makers.
