Escom declares bankruptcy (1996)
The German retailer Escom, which had bought Commodore International in 1995 for $14 million, went bankrupt. Gateway 2000 later obtained the Amiga patents and copyrights, and Tulip Computers bought the Commodore trademarks in 1997.
