Apple iPod (2nd generation) (2002)
The second iPod swapped the mechanical scroll wheel for a touch-sensitive one and added 20 GB capacity and Windows-compatible versions.
The 2nd generation iPod replaced the physical scroll wheel with a touch-sensitive wheel and raised the top capacity to 20 GB. Windows-compatible models shipped alongside the Mac version, bringing the iPod to PC users who could use FireWire-equipped machines. Songs were synced through FireWire, which made USB-only PCs a poor fit until later generations. Collectors value the early touch-wheel models and the artist-signature editions released in December 2002.
