Seagate Barracuda (1991)
The first hard disk with a 7,200 RPM spindle.
Seagate introduced Barracuda in 1991 as the first 7,200 RPM drive. It targeted servers and workstations; the same name later covered ATA drives for desktop PCs. Faster rotation improved seek and transfer.
