Cirque GlidePoint Touchpad (1994)
The first widely available retail touchpad, using capacitive sensing.
Cirque turned GlidePoint into a chip in 1994 and Apple adopted it in the PowerBook 500 series that year. It displaced trackballs on notebooks.
