Canon EOS 300D (Digital Rebel) (2003)
First digital SLR sold for under $1,000.
Announced Aug 20, 2003 at $899 body-only, the Digital Rebel put a DSLR in reach of ordinary buyers. It introduced the EF-S mount with its 18-55 kit lens and used the same 6.3 MP CMOS sensor as the 10D. Photographers hacked its firmware to unlock extra features.
