ASCII Microsoft opens as first overseas office (1978)
Microsoft's first international office, ASCII Microsoft, was founded in Japan on November 1, 1978, in partnership with Kazuhiko Nishi's ASCII. Microsoft later ended the partnership and set up its own Japanese subsidiary in 1986.
