Xbox 360 will not read discs: belt, lens and laser service
A clogged drive, a warped belt and a tired laser can all stop a 360 from reading. A full service with cleaning and a belt or laser replacement fixed one documented unit.

- Do not use a heat gun or other fixes that heat the whole board unless you know what you are doing.

Step by step
- Test with several discs Try both original game discs and a simple data disc.
- Disassemble the console Remove the case parts, drive and fan assembly, keeping screws organised.
- Clean out dust Blow out dust from the console and the drive.
- Check the belt A warped belt can mimic a dead drive. Replace it, or as a stopgap boil it to restore shape.
- Clean the lens Use isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab.
- Lubricate the mechanism Lightly lubricate the tray and sled mechanism with a plastic-safe grease.
- Refresh the thermal paste If the console is open, renew the paste.
- Replace the laser if needed Fit a new pickup if the old one is not recovering.
- Reassemble and test Run several games for an extended session.
