Created as a modified version of Softlanding Linux System (SLS), version 1.00 arrived on July 17, 1993 as twenty-four 3.5 inch floppy disk images. It is the oldest Linux distribution still maintained. Friends at Moorhead State University encouraged Volkerding to share it.
